    Ever noticed that scholars from different management fields - e.g., organizational behavior, business ethics, entrepreneurship, strategy, operations, human resources, etc - seem like they are talking in different languages? If you've ever wanted to understand the implicit norms that explain the differences between management fields, this symposium is for you.

    The central idea of this Panel Symposium is that it is easier to learn from and contribute to a field within management if one understands the implicit, mutually reinforcing norms of different Academy of Management Divisions. In order to understand these implicit norms, two of the Panel Symposium presentations will display bibliometric maps of the Divisions and Terms that comprise the management field. These visualizations frame the presentations of four established scholars, who will discuss the implicit norms governing specific specialties, theorize on the nature of the differences between specialties, and reflect upon the difficulties in bridging different specialties and some approaches to facilitate such boundary-spanning activities.
