What schools require entrepreneurship of all students

  • 1.  What schools require entrepreneurship of all students

    Posted 07-07-2013 22:11
I asked this question back in 2001 (you can see the results at http://www.slu.edu/x17980.xml) but was wondering how it fares today.
Do you know of any schools that require all students (undergraduate or graduate level) to take a course in entrepreneurship?
Are there any business schools that require this (at either level) for all students?
Are there any management departments that require it?

    Thanks for your responses!

We require it for all Management majors at SDSU. With our new cross campus Ent minor in place, Ent courses are now open to all students on campus who sign up for the minor.

Here at Butler University, all undergraduate business students are required to take two entrepreneurial courses. The first is an 'intro to business' course based on the business plan. The second course is more experiential in nature where students get a loan and actually start up a small business.

We are currently looking into adding an entrepreneurial course as a requirement for all MBA students.

At indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne all undergraduate students must take an introductory course which essentially teaches business plan development.  One can argue, however, if business plan writing is really an entrepreneurship course -perhaps best left for another day.

    Jerry,

At Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Sao Paulo - FGV-EAESP - (host for I2P Global this year) all undergraduate students in Business Administration are required to take two courses on entrepreneurship, since 2007. At the first semester they are presented to theory on e-ship and on the second semester they are required to develop a business plan. The end of the second course is a "venture showcase", at the sports court, when we invite angel investors, VCs, and the community.

    Best,
    Rene
