    New Position- Assistant or Associate Professor Entrepreneurship

    Start Date- Sept. 1, 2014

    Tenure Track Position- Entrepreneurship

    Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Entrepreneurship at Babson College (http://www.babson.edu). The position requires a principal teaching and research focus in entrepreneurship including the ability to teach in one or more of the areas of new venture feasibility, creation and growth, as well as other specialty entrepreneurship courses. Babson College is the home of the 69 country Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) researching family enterprise, and the Diana Project that studies women's entrepreneurship.  For 33 years, Babson College has hosts the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC) and the Price/Babson SEE program for Entrepreneurship Educators.  A variety of programs are offered internationally for practitioners, students and educators.   Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels, and professional service within the College and community.

    College-wide Faculty Requirements

    We are looking for an accomplished teacher/scholar with:

    •           passion about teaching and a proven track record of teaching excellence and innovative curriculum development;

    •           depth in scholarly or practical expertise that will add to the intellectual community of the College;

    •           willingness to lead and collaborate with faculty from multiple disciplines to design and teach courses in an integrated, cross-disciplinary context;

    •           curiosity about and facility with technology and the possibility of teaching in a blended/online environment;

    •           skills to navigate and embrace complexity, ambiguity, and change;

    •           experience in teaching, service, and scholarship in ways that will enhance the college's commitment to diversity and inclusion; and

    •           engagement as a helpful colleague who is committed to the success of Babson College.

     

    Position Requirements

    Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship (or related discipline), show evidence of success in teaching entrepreneurship, and have an active research and publication track record primarily in entrepreneurship.  We seek applicants with a particular interest in institutional influences, economic development or economic policy focusing on entrepreneurship internationally. Experience in working with large data sets, econometrics and multi-level modeling will be an asset.  Candidates who can integrate the connection between entrepreneurship and other management disciplines, and who also provide a global perspective in their teaching and research are particularly welcome. Candidates with an educational background in other fields (i.e. economics, sociology, political science, international studies, and liberal arts) or business disciplines (i.e. marketing, management, operations, information technology, and finance) who can apply these interests to entrepreneurship are welcome. 

     

    Priority will be given to those candidates who also have experience working in entrepreneurial endeavors (starting, owning or running a venture, corporate venturing, social venturing, family business) or working with entrepreneurs (private equity, banking, policy, economic development) . Candidates should be passionate and committed to entrepreneurship research and teaching, be willing to collaborate with faculty from other disciplines, exhibit intellectual curiosity, and have a strong interest in curriculum innovation.  Experience teaching in a graduate program, executive education, international program, integrated or distance learning program is highly beneficial.
