    Louisiana State University invites applications for Director of the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute in the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Applicants must have a Ph.D./DBA in Entrepreneurship, Management, or related area and a record of scholarly achievement in teaching and research commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the E. J. Ourso College of Business. The Director should have experience in leading and managing people and be able to communicate effectively to stakeholders in the entrepreneurship community. Entrepreneurial experience and grant/fund raising capabilities are valuable assets.

     

    Primary faculty duties include: teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in entrepreneurship, engage in academic research and publishing, and undertake assignments normally associated with teaching, scholarship, and university service. Primary director duties include: lead the development and growth of the Institute and its impact on economic development, interact with University, governmental, not-for-profit, and commercial business organizations that provide entrepreneurial opportunities, and oversee the administration of the Institute's various programs.

     

    The Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute was established to promote and foster entrepreneurial practices through education, outreach, and research. The Institute serves the University and the local business community, and works closely with its partner, the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, to assist in economic development and small business development-related endeavors.  The Institute offers a number of programs including: The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, a program to help veterans acquire the entrepreneurial skills needed to start their own businesses; the Entrepreneurship Fellows Program, a year-long work/study program designed to encourage business and entrepreneurial practices in a select group of students; the LSU One Hundred Fastest Growing Tiger Businesses, an event to recognize and celebrate the 100 fastest growing Tiger-owned or Tiger-led businesses in the world; the New Venture Business Plan Competition, an annual event that encourages students and individuals to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and develop high-growth businesses; and the Executive Education program which offers mid-career managers an opportunity to assess their effectiveness, update their abilities, and increase their awareness of the economic, social, and legal environments in which their companies function.  

     

    Located in Baton Rouge, LSU is the flagship university in the Louisiana State University System. The                 Rucks Department of Management and the E. J. Ourso College of Business provide collegial and financial support for academic research and teaching. The E. J. Ourso College of Business offers undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. programs of study, emphasizes high-quality research and teaching, and maintains strong ties with the local business community. Baton Rouge provides numerous cultural and recreational amenities that enhance the quality of life for area residents. Moreover, Baton Rouge is located approximately 70 miles north of New Orleans, with easy access to the Crescent City's unique flare.
