I teach in a small liberal arts university and am trying to revamp the semester long introductory entrepreneurship course from a business plan course to something more accessible to the interdisciplinary students we attract. I am trying to design a term project to go with a few case studies. I would be interested in learning about non-business plan term projects that I could incorporate into my coarse.
    Thank you

Get thee to Blank & Dorf and the Udacity online Lean Launchpad class (free, Steve's book is only $25).

I've done this and there is nothing better, They won't need any lectures, just brief them on key issues as they arise.

Form teams, brainstorm ideas -- the Startup Weekend model then spend the semester figuring the biz model through the lean approach and connecting students with as many mentors from the community as humanly possible. If people in your vicinity are on this listserv, they can help you with recruiting mentors/coaches for the teams.

    Interim pitches to experts.

If you like, make it social ventures.

Have them keep a detailed journal and encourage reflection, self and peer.

Or just steal everything Geoff Archer does at Royal Roads, LOL

    Hi -

I second Norris' suggestion. I have pushed the Lean Launchpad approach over the edge and the students love it. It's messy, but gloriously so, and the outcomes are phenomenal. The students "get it". But yes, you need to build in considerable mentoring/community involvement to really elevate this sort of experience.

    Albert,

We also use dorf/blank text and videos. They are awesome and udacity makes it easy.

However that may be a little advanced for an intro course. We use it with our 4th year ENT majors.

For an intro course for a more general audience, we start much more basic. Focusing on case studies of Ent success.  The two assignments we give are around an entrepreneur bio and an exec summary.

Being Canadian we also found a lack of local content so we created www.nakedentrepreneur.tv which you may like.

    Hope that helps.

    Onwards and upwards!
