POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
STARTING DATE: August 2014
QUALIFICATIONS
The Management Department in the College of Business Administration at
Kansas State University is seeking to hire an assistant professor or
associate professor for a tenure-track appointment. Applicants must have a
doctoral degree in entrepreneurship or a closely related field (e.g.,
Strategic Management). We are specifically seeking candidates with a minimum
of three years of experience as an assistant professor in entrepreneurship
with a proven record of excellence in research and teaching in
entrepreneurship. Preference will be given to those who have strong
interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to improve entrepreneurship
education and practice (e.g. working with entrepreneurship centers), and
experience working with diverse populations (e.g. students, entrepreneurs).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidates are expected to take a leadership role in academic research and
curriculum development in the area of entrepreneurship. Responsibilities
will primarily include conducting and publishing academic research, teaching
two courses per semester, assisting in the service mission of the
Department/College, and providing leadership and oversight of the academic
programs of the Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship.
UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Kansas State University is a state-supported institution of more than 23,000
students. The University is recognized for the quality of its academic
programs and for consistently producing winners of top national
scholarships. The 668-acre main campus is located in beautiful Manhattan,
Kansas (population approximately 50,000) a community nestled in the Flint
Hills of Northeast Kansas. The College of Business Administration is one of
10 Colleges on the main campus. The College, with 2800 undergraduate and
graduate students and 60+ full-time faculty, consists of four academic
departments: Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. In addition to
six undergraduate majors (Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management,
Management Information Systems, and Marketing), the Master of Business
Administration degree program offers specialization in technology
entrepreneurship designed to train future leaders of technology-based
ventures. The College is accredited by AACSB International at the bachelor
and master level in business administration and accounting. The Management
Department is the largest department in the college and grants about 300
degrees each year.
