    The University of Michigan - Dearborn College of Business announces the following grant opportunity for research in urban entrepreneurship. The deadline for proposals is November 15, 2012.

    The College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking proposals for a competitive research grant for the Betty F. Elliott Initiative for Academic Excellence. The theme for 2012-2013 is “Doing Business in Detroit”, and proposals are sought related to urban entrepreneurship. One $15,000 research grant will be awarded.

    We invite proposals that address urban entrepreneurship in urban economic development from a multi-dimensional perspective. Research topics may include (but are not limited to) the following:

    • Urban entrepreneurship networks and social capital

    • Urban entrepreneurial financing

    • Opportunity identification and evaluation in an urban environment

    • Race, class, and ethnicity, and the socio-cultural context in urban entrepreneurship

    • Social entrepreneurship or social enterprise and urban revitalization
