Call for Papers
The Eric C. Douglass Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies at Royal Roads University is proud to host the 2013 annual meeting of the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (CCSBE). From May 2nd to 4th, 2013 academics, educators, representatives of small business support organizations, researchers, innovators, government officials, investors, students, and policy makers will convene around the conference theme, "Entrepreneurship Developing Communities."
500 word abstracts for relevant paper sessions, workshops or panels are invited from all areas of entrepreneurship, SMEs and innovation. Authors are requested to give special consideration to the use and implications of their expected findings towards 'making a positive difference in our communities while making a profit.' Submissions will be peer-reviewed. Tracks will be determined as patterns emerge from the abstracts submitted. That said, we offer the following food for thought:
Capital (VC, Private Equity, Angel, crowdfunding, etc.)
Cases & Classrooms (Online Teaching, Experiential Exercises, etc.)
Cleantech & Social Entrepreneurship
Cognition & Creativity (Design thinking, Effectuation, etc.)
Community and Context (Healthcare, International, Poverty Alleviation, etc.)
Crossing Chasms (SME growth, Economic Development, Microfranchising, etc.)
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, method and expected findings of the study, particularly as it relates to the conference theme 'Entrepreneurship Developing Communities.'
All submissions will be double-blind, peer-reviewed. Authors must not, therefore, reveal their identities.
Abstracts should not exceed two (2) single-spaced pages with 1" margins in Times New Roman 12pt.
Submissions should be made in Microsoft Word format. PDF formats will not be accepted.
The official languages of the conference are English and French. Abstracts may be submitted in either of these two languages.
Submit your abstracts as an email attachment with the subject 'CCSBE Conference Administration' sent to entrepreneurship@royalroads.ca.
Timeline:
Two-Page Abstract Submission due – Jan 14th, 2013
Notification of acceptance – February 1st, 2013
100-word summary for the conference programme due – March 15th, 2013
(Optionally) Full papers are due – April 1st, 2013
Full papers submitted may (optionally) be considered for:
Inclusion in the edited conference proceedings (if desired)
CCSBE Best Paper Awards
Publication in the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship (carried on ABI Inform), and
Publication in the SMEE Review (if desired)
Review Process
Selection for inclusion in the 2013 CCSBE Conference program will be based upon relevance to the theme, linkages to the CCSBE ethos, quality, and originality in the judgment of at least two independent reviewers.
Full paper submission guidelines will follow the same structure as the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Additional questions about style should be answered through consultation with the journal's website – www.jsbe.com

Victoria is located at the southern end of British Columbia's Vancouver Island. It is approximately 100km from Vancouver or Seattle by airplane or ferry. The conference will be held at the Hotel Grand Pacific on Victoria's Inner Harbour in the heart of downtown Victoria.
