At the intersection of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and human resource scholarship, the concept of strategic human capital has emerged to explain the relationships between a firm's talented managers and "star" employees and its competitive advantage. The purpose of this professional development workshop is to identify theoretical paradoxes inherent in the construct of strategic human capital and to arm workshop participants with promising directions for high-quality research opportunities in this domain.
Following the panelists' presentations, panelists will lead roundtable groups in the development of research plans (e.g., high-level manuscript outlines) to address specific questions relevant to strategic human capital. The goal of the roundtable discussions is to motivate participants to use their own theoretical insights and strategic human capital to consider and propose new directions for research on this important construct.
Although this is an open workshop, pre-registration is strongly encouraged (via the AOM PDW registration system). Sponsorship and refreshments will be provided by Michigan State University.
