One of the four specific activities of the Entrepreneurship Division determined by its Constitution is "promoting and conducting the interchange of information concepts, ideas and research results among those academicians and practitioners interested in entrepreneurship". In the light of this statement, it is interesting to take a moment and to think about how many practitioner members you know in person. And how many of them have you seen at Annual Meetings? Statistics suggest that we are the second least popular division among practitioners after Research Methods, and those executive members we have, are generally unwilling to join us for Annual Meetings.
All this is happening in spite of the fact that Division's leadership is doing a great job to make ENTa fantastic community for everyone involved - as a member of six different divisions I can say with confidence that ENT is one of the most dynamic, creative, inclusive and forward-looking communities within the Academy. We even have a Non-Traditional Academics Committee that addresses specific concerns of academics that have non-traditional career backgrounds - whether in the period prior to their academic career (i.e., extensive industry/entrepreneurship experience) or in their choices of their academic careers. So why are we still failing in fulfilling an important part of our constitution? The following story might shed some light on this mystery.
One of our executive members - Tom - shared this story in hopes that it will help the Division enjoy greater success by unleashing the energy of meaningful connections between academics and practitioners. Tom has been an owner/operator in the food and beverage service industry for over 40 years. During this time period he has been a Partner, Principal, President and/or CEO of 29 start-up companies and acquired three. The International Committee
In 2011/12 the International Committee has continued to develop the Ambassadors Program. The Entrepreneurship Division Ambassadors program was benchmarked from a similar program run in another AOM division. The purpose is to widen participation within Division activities by our international members, to help promote the division activities on a global basis, and to draw on the unique knowledge and experience of members around the world. For each country in which the Division has members, we have actively sought out a representative, or 'Ambassador' for the division. Ambassadors are listed below. Ambassadors serve a dual role. They help to communicate Division activities within their country and to engage members from their country actively in those activities; and they participate in collaborative projects, orchestrated by the International Committee. CALL FOR PAPERS AND SPECIAL ISSUES

Special Issue on Evidence-based Entrepreneurship (EBE): Empirical Base, Promises and Prospects to Enhance Cumulative Science and Evidence-Informed Practice
Guest Editors:
Michael Frese
Denise M. Rousseau
Johan Wiklund
The Special Issue will appear March 2014 issue (vol. 38-2) Deadline for Submission of Manuscripts: 15th of November 2012 Papers should be submitted via the S1/MC website for the journal
after October 1, 2012.
Evidence-based entrepreneurship ( EBE) pursues a science-informed practice of entrepreneurship and systematic accumulation and interpretation of entrepreneurship's body of evidence (Rauch & Frese, 2006). EBE incorporates insights from evidence-based management, which is influenced by evidence-based approaches in medicine and other fields. At the same time we must ask whether entrepreneurship can make use of the controversial ideas of evidence-based management. This special issue takes stock of EBE and the opportunities and limits of modeling itself on other areas of evidence-based practice. Special Issue on Business Models

The business model has received increasing attention since the late 1990s, driven partly by the opportunities for new Internet ventures and their need to explain to potential stakeholders how they planned to generate sustained value. But the notion has also proven helpful in describing how established firms have found new sources of value creation and/or capture. The business model, it seems, is not one distinct construct, but rather an umbrella term that refers to various aspects of the underlying phenomenon (namely, how firms do business at the system level), such as value creation, value capture, or activity system. Not surprisingly, it has become an important topic of study for entrepreneurship scholars, especially in social entrepreneurship where firms must often find new, original ways to create societal wealth. At the same time, however, the business model has also become increasingly relevant for strategy scholars interested in better understanding mechanisms for value capture and activity systems. Theories of Entrepreneurship
Submission Deadline: January 15, 2014

As the field of entrepreneurship has matured, research in entrepreneurship has evolved from studying the phenomena of entrepreneurship, to adopting theory from other fields, to developing new theories of entrepreneurial behavior. Along with the increase in the scholarly study of entrepreneurship has come a broader interest in entrepreneurship by scholars in other disciplines such as strategic management, economics, social-psychology, organizational theory, and so forth. Indeed, the field of entrepreneurship may have reached the tipping point where the advancement of knowledge may only be possible by conducting a thorough examination of what is known and unknown.

Entrepreneurship Through a Qualitative Lens
Journal of Business Venturing
Guest Editors:
Garry Bruton, Texas Christian University
Steven Si, Tongji University
Roy Suddaby, University of Alberta
Qualitative research has a long history in entrepreneurship scholarship. However, in recent years the use and development of quantitative methods have far outpaced the use and development of qualitative investigations. Entrepreneurship is not unique in this regard. In May 2014 a conference associated with the special issue will be occuring in which those authors who have received a revise and resubmit will be asked to attend if possible. Submit between December 2012 and January, 2013.

Update on Published Research Awards
by: Dan Forbes
In Summer 2012, in anticipation of the end of the 5-year sponsorship term of the IDEA Awards, the Awards Committee appointed a task force to evaluate the Division's published research awards. The task force included Becky Reuber (chair), Dimo Dimov, Lou Marino and Anu Wadhwa. After soliciting input from the Division at large and from specific people familiar with the awards' history and implementation, the task force proposed that the Division should discontinue the thought leader awards while continuing the foundational paper award. These proposals were subsequently adopted by the Division's Executive Committee during its August meeting and will be in effect for the 2013 award cycle. The Greif Award will also continue unchanged. The task force also proposed several possibilities for new research awards, and these will be explored more fully in the year ahead..
