    Tenure-Track Position in Entrepreneurship

     

    The department is looking for enterprising candidates who will help to grow CSUSB's nationally recognized Entrepreneurship program, winner of a 2010 USASBE award and ranked number 4 in 2006 by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur® magazine. Rank is open with Assistant Professor preferred.  By the appointment date, candidates for this full-time position shall possess an earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field of business.  Expectations for the position include teaching entrepreneurship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in program activities of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, in the advising of students in the department and serving on college and university-wide committees.  Candidates must have demonstrated teaching excellence, and evidence of publication record in Entrepreneurship or strong development of a promising stream of research.  Anticipated start date is Fall 2011.

     

    SALARY: Dependent on qualifications and experience.  The possibility to earn additional compensation through summer school teaching exists.

    Rank is open with Assistant Professor preferred.  By the appointment date, candidates for this full-time position should possess an earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field of business.  Prior business and/or entrepreneurial experience is desirable.  Expectations for the position include teaching entrepreneurship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as general management.  It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in program activities of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE), in the advising of students in the department and serving on college and university-wide committees.  Candidates must have demonstrated teaching excellence, and evidence of publication record in Entrepreneurship or strong development of a promising stream of research. 

     

    Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community.  In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University's and the College of Business and Public Administration's strategic plan. The strategic plans emphasizes six  areas: a) teaching and learning excellence; b) student access, retention, and success; c) excellence in research and creative activities; d) campus community; e) community engagement; and f) infrastructure. Anticipated start date is Fall 2013, subject to funding.

    By the appointment date, candidates should possess an earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship or a closely-related field with coursework and publications in Entrepreneurship.  Desirable candidates will have substantive prior business and/or entrepreneurial experience, demonstrated teaching excellence, and evidence of publication record in Entrepreneurship or a promising stream of research.  Ability to teach strategy, problem solving and the MBA culminating experience course is also a plus.

    Overview:
    The department of Management at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a tenure track position in the area of Entrepreneurship beginning September 16, 2016, contingent on funding. Rank is open. Successful candidates will join a growing, dynamic department and be committed to teaching, scholarship and student success. CSUSB is committed to improving our University’s diversity with regard to race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, culture, and physical ability.

    We will have a team of faculty to conduct preliminary candidate screenings at the 75th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management, August 7-11, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Qualified applicants will be asked if they are interested and available to set-up a meeting at the Academy. Although meeting at the Academy is not required, it can help in determining fit for the position.

    Typical Activities:
    Expectations for the position include teaching entrepreneurship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and significant participation in entrepreneurship program development and leadership. Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community. We are seeking candidates who possess an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for teaching entrepreneurship and a willingness to mentor and coach students in the development of new ventures. Candidates must also have a strong interest and skills that enable them to participate in building curriculum, developing innovative academic and experiential programs, and taking on leadership roles within the department and the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE). It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in maintaining student engagement, advisement of students in the entrepreneurship concentration, developing and maintaining relationships with the local business community and serving on department, college and university-wide committees. CSUSB is on a quarter system and a faculty teaching workload is 36 units per academic year (9 courses), with a reduced teaching load for new faculty during the first two years.

    Qualifications:
    Minimum Qualifications: By the appointment date, candidates should possess an earned doctorate from an AACSB or equivalent accredited institution in Entrepreneurship or a closely-related field. Candidates should demonstrate prior experience, teaching and publication record in the area of Entrepreneurship with a minimum of two semesters as an instructor, one peer-reviewed journal article, and three years of experience as an entrepreneur and/or three years of experience working with entrepreneurs (e.g. investor, banking, economic development, consulting).

    Preferred Qualifications: Priority will be given to those candidates who (a) have significant prior entrepreneurial experience; (b) ability to teach other closely related management courses such as strategy and business consulting; (c) have demonstrated teaching excellence and evidence of publication record or a promising stream of research; and (d) have a history, aptitude and desire to build academic and community outreach programs.
