Call for Nominations: 2012 IDEA Awards
Dear ENT Division members:
Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 IDEA Awards. The IDEA Awards are a category of awards sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. Their purpose is to foster, recognize and reward high-quality, published research in entrepreneurship. Each award carries a $1,500 (per paper) prize. Winners will be announced in May, and awards will be presented in August at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in Boston. Please consider nominating one or more papers for the following awards.
The Foundational Paper Award
Given for a paper that has had a lasting and positive influence on the field of entrepreneurship.
This award recognizes a published paper that has significantly and positively changed the conversation in the field of entrepreneurship research. For example, such a paper may have applied a concept or theory in entrepreneurship research in an especially meaningful way, or it may have changed the boundaries of the domain. To be eligible for this award, the author must be living. Generally, too, foundational papers will have been published for at least 10 years (i.e., prior to 2002).
Thought Leader Awards
Given for the best entrepreneurship papers published in 2011. (Up to 4 awards are given per year.)
This award recognizes recently-published papers that have the potential to become foundational papers over time. For the 2012 award cycle, papers must have been published in 2011 to be eligible.
The Research Committee of the Entrepreneurship Division will review all nominations and determine awards in accordance with the above criteria.
How to nominate a paper:
Send an email to ent.awards.2012@gmail.com that includes the following information:
1. The nominated paper. At a minimum, please include the title, the author and the journal in which it was published.
2. Your name. Please include your name and an email address where you can be contacted, if these are not already contained in your email. (Self-nominations are permitted.)
3. Include a short nominating statement. Include a short statement (up to 200 words) explaining why the paper merits the award for which you are nominating it.
4. Be sure to submit your nomination by Friday, March 9, 2012.
Finally, please note that a list of past winners can be found on the Division website at:
