Call for papers: Submit your research!
Amsterdam Social Science is a platform for Master and PhD students to present and
discuss their research.
Take your chance to get feedback on your first academic endeavors!
We are constantly looking for new contributions of articles and essays for upcoming
issues. The journal is open to empirical and/or theoretical articles as well as normative
essays pertaining to all (sub)fields of social science.
Papers submitted will be peer-refereed and judged on the following criteria:
. Relevance and contribution to research field
. Innovativeness
. Argument structure and style
. Appeal
When submitting your article, please conform to the ASA-style guide, write in British
English and include both a short (1-4 lines) biography and an abstract of your paper.
Articles should be between 4000 and 7000 words, essays between 2000 and 3000.
Note to newcomers:
Don't let all those technical guidelines put you off! They are not as complicated as
they might seem at first; the style guide helps with many examples. Consider the
rather tedious activity of getting your text in shape as a useful exercise for future
publication in other academic journals. You'll soon get the hang of it.
Amsterdam Social Science was founded in June 2008 by Thomas Franssen and
Jonathan Mijs at the University of Amsterdam and currently consists of a joint
editorial board of VU and UvA students. The journal is supported financially by the
UvA and VU Graduate Schools of Social Sciences.
