I was wondering if anyone can point me to some articles that deal with
the contributions of mentorship or role models to the entrepreneurship
process. While several papers using a variety of datasets and methods
have found that knowing an entrepreneur or small business owner helps
encourage nascent entrepreneurs, I have had more trouble finding any
work looking at how entrepreneurial role models or mentors affect
other entrepreneurial outcomes, such as profitability, growth, or
survival.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could point me towards research on this
topic. Feel free to e-mail me any recommendations to
ben.spigel@utoronto.ca and I'll send out a summary to the listserv in
a few weeks time.
Thanks,
