    Fox School of Business/Kauffman Foundation Workshop On Empirical Entrepreneurship

     

    Conference Chair: Sheryl Winston Smith, Fox School of Business, Temple University

    Conference Co-Chair: Jose Plehn-Dujowich, Fox School of Business, Temple University

     

    Conference is to be hosted at the Fox School of Business, Temple University November 18-19, 2011 and sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

     

    The conference will address key issues in strategic entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance. Preference will be given to papers using the Kauffman Firm Survey data. Papers using other microdata to address the conference topics are also welcome (e.g. Survey of Small Business Finances, Panel Survey of Entrepreneurial Dynamics, and Small Business Economic Trends, and the National Small Business Poll, and relevant Census datasets).

     

    Topics of interest include:

    • determinants of entrepreneurship

    • factors affecting innovation in new firms

    • strategic human capital and new firm performance

    • intellectual property and entrepreneurship

    • financing and new firm performance

    • role of founder/founding team in new firms

    • entrepreneurial entry and industry dynamics

     

    The conference will be designed to foster interaction amongst leading senior and junior faculty focusing on empirical entrepreneurship as well as doctoral students embarking on research in this area. The Kauffman Foundation will cover travel and up to 2 nights hotel accommodations for the presenting author.

     

    PAPER SELECTION PROCESS:

    Papers should be fully developed working papers, but at a stage where they can still benefit from the group's discussion. Preference will be given to recent papers that have not previously been presented at major conferences.

     

    PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

    Please submit an electronic version of the paper (PDF format) no later than August 31, 2011 through the conference web page: http://sites.kauffman.org/wep/overview.cfm

     

    Paper selections will be finalized by late August 2011.
