    The Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE) at
    North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management invites
    applications for a Department Head. The anticipated start date is June or
    July 2012, with flexibility for an earlier or later start date. An earned
    Ph.D. in management, innovation, entrepreneurship, or in a related area,
    and scholarship and impact commensurate with the rank of Professor are
    required. Salary is competitive and the search will remain open until a
    suitable individual is found.

    Highly interdisciplinary in nature, the MIE department has 25 full time
    tenure track and non tenure track faculty. The MIE department is a diverse
    group of management scholars with a primary focus on technology,
    innovation and entrepreneurship. Faculty research programs include
    business strategy, entrepreneurship, human resources, management of
    technology and innovation, organizational behavior, and technology
    commercialization. The MIE Department and other departments in the Poole
    College of Management house several academic centers, including the Center
    for Innovation Management Studies, Entrepreneurship Collaborative,
    Technology, Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Program, Supply Chain
    Research Consortium, BioSciences Program, and the Enterprise Risk
    Management Initiative (http://www.poole.ncsu.edu/). The department has
    both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. MIE is one of four
    departments within the Poole College. The others are Accounting,
    Economics, and Business Management. The Head sits on the college Executive
    Committee along with other Heads and the 3 Deans.

    The college recently received a naming gift of $37M from Lonnie C. Poole,
    an alumnus of NC State and long-time supporter, and is in the process of
    determining how the endowment will be used.

    NC State University is one of 16 universities in the UNC System and has
    over 34,000 students and more than 8,000 faculty and staff. It offers over
    100 degree programs at bachelor, masters, professional and doctoral levels
    through the 10 colleges on campus. NC State receives more applications
    from North Carolina students than any other university. Its 1,000-acre
    Centennial Campus, recently selected as the Best University Research Park
    in the US, adjoins the 700-acre main campus. NC State is located in the
    Research Triangle area, which has a vibrant economy and a high quality of

    Duke University, and hundreds of entrepreneurial and high-tech
    organizations, NC State is in an unmatched location for scholars
    interested in business studies.

    The campus is easily accessible via the nearby Raleigh-Durham Airport and
    an extensive network of interstate and US highways. Scenic mountains and
    superb beaches are two hours away by car. With the proximity of three
    major universities in the Triangle, there is an excellent variety of
    sporting, art exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events, in addition
    to fine shopping, dining, and outdoor recreational activities.
