  • 1.  Cash Flow Exercise

    Posted 03-17-2011 13:56

    I am looking for a cash flow exercise for an undergraduate class of 3rd and 4th year students in entrepreneurship. I am looking to have them understand about planning and managing money during startup. As such they would not have a history of financial statements to create a traditional accounting uses of cash type statement, this is more pro forma work. I have already looked at the published exercises on USABE.org and 3E-Learning.org.  I will summarize the responses and share will the list. Thanks

    Thank you all for those who provided possible alternatives, below is a summary of the responses;

    - Cashflow-Cluedoh! The download link for the game is: http://www.tutor2u.net/business/cashflow-cluedoh.zip

    - The best example to use is a real one: I ask the students how much money they think they'll make per year upon graduation. I then ask how much rent, utilities, insurance, food, transportation, clothing, furniture, etc. will cost - it's fun to have them interact on this. Ask what happens if their car breaks down or they need better clothing... credit cards/payments that carry forward support the example. Then, add a gift from mom&dad for graduation to the bank account. What happens if they are laid off after 1 year... It worked well. Good luck!
