The WaTER Technologies for Emerging Regions (WaTER) Center at the University of Oklahoma will host the Second University of Oklahoma International WaTER Conference on October 24-25, 2011 in Norman, Okla.
The conference theme "Synergy at the Interface: Integrating Technology, Social Entrepreneurship and Behavior Change" is designed to bring together participants from multiple disciplines responding to the UN Millennium Development Goals of bringing water and sanitation to developing countries. Attendees will include water and sanitation experts from academia, industry, NGOs, government, and foundations.
WaTER Conference Call for Abstracts - Social Entrepreneurship
Areas for paper presentations at the conference include social entrepreneurship. On the social entrepreneurship side, we encourage papers that address water issues in the following areas:
· Microfinance
· Financial sustainability
· The development and use of business models
· Cultural and behavioral change issue.
Abstracts, for oral presentations and posters on any topic related to water issues in emerging regions, are due June 15, 2011 to: conferenceservices@ou.edu. For conference registration and information, go to http://WaTER.ou.edu.
Conference Overview
The two-day conference will include poster and concurrent paper sessions devoted to all technical and non-technical topics and sectors (e.g., science, engineering, health, anthropology, sociology, business, meteorology, geography, education and cultural issues) relevant to water and sanitation in remote regions of developing countries.
