CALL FOR PECHA KUCHA PRESENTATIONS
PDW on Social Entrepreneurship and Broader Theories
Conducted at the AOM 2011
Saturday, August 13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon
The key idea of this workshop is to link social entrepreneurship research with more established theories on the economic, social, and political organization of society. Pecha Kucha presentations, a format forcing the presenters to be concise and to the point, will serve to introduce alternative theoretical paradigms and potential linkages to social entrepreneurship. We will also provide room for plenary debate and allow the participants to engage in small-group discussions.
We invite scholars in the field of social entrepreneurship and neighboring fields to participate in the workshop by delivering a Pecha Kucha presentation about an established theory from economics, sociology, or political science that could be beneficial to the field of social entrepreneurship and, vice versa, benefit itself from incorporating social entrepreneurship.
The Pecha Kucha presentation is your chance to propose and justify a broader theory that will benefit the field of social entrepreneurship and that itself could benefit from exploring the field of social entrepreneurship. Additionally, we plan to publish the topics presented and discussed in the workshop and share it with the research community. Presenters of Pecha Kucha presentations have the option to become co-author of the planned article.
** Please Note: As there are only a limited number of slots available to presenters, you may also participate in the workshop without presenting. To obtain an approval code for participation, please contact Anica Zeyen (anica.zeyen@uni.leuphana.de).**
Submission process: Please submit a short abstract (200 – 400 words) about the proposed presentation on your "Bigger Picture" perspective providing an explanation of the theory and its potential linkage to social entrepreneurship research.
These "Bigger Picture" perspectives can include, but are not limited to: economic theories from welfare economics, public choice, institutional or normative economics; sociological theories such as system theory, social movement theory, or institutional theory; and political theory.
Selection criteria: Selection of presentations will be based on the submission's ingenuity and potential to advance the field of social entrepreneurship
