Seeking Social Entrepreneurship program growth statistics

    Hello everyone:

We are in the process of reviewing our programs across the University, and one question we need to answer is what are the trends in various disciplines nationally and internationally.  Thus, I am writing to ask whether anyone knows about a source tracking enrollments in Social Entrepreneurship programs?   I have looked on various websites (e.g., Ashoka, CASE, Skoll), but have found limited trend data.

There have been some recent newspaper articles about growth in programs, but this evidence has been primarily anecdotal.  In addition, the 2008 Social Entrepreneurship Teaching Resources Handbook (http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1344412) notes that "The growth of the sector now includes over 350 professors who are actively teaching or researching in social \entrepreneurship from more than 35 countries, with over 30 national and international competitions, 800 different articles and 200 cases used in social entrepreneurship courses," which is useful, macro-level information.  However, information from a university level would probably be more useful.

Thus, if you could provide data about your Social Entrepreneurship program, either to the listserv or to me directly, I may be able to determine some trends based on data from individual schools.  For example, using my school as an example, the following data would be very helpful.

    Social Entrepreneurship Program launched:

    2007 –  12-hour concentration for business majors

    2008 – 21-hour minor for non-business majors

    Enrollments:

2010  -  23 in concentration or minor out of 192 business majors or minors

I would be happy to consolidate and share any information to the listserv about any general findings.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Best regards,

    Franz Lohrke
