Do you have a passion for scholarly inquiry in the field of entrepreneurship? Does a career as an entrepreneurship faculty member intrigue you? Does discovery of concepts and ideas that might enhance the ability of entrepreneurs to change the world excite you? If so, we encourage you to consider the Ph.D. Program in Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State University. We are accepting applications through March 1 for the program which begins in Fall 2011.

The commitment to entrepreneurship runs deep at OSU. We have the only School of Entrepreneurship at a major research institution in the United States. Our faculty team includes some of the true thought leaders in the discipline. The research productivity of our dedicated faculty rates among the top ten entrepreneurship programs in the country. With the first entrepreneurship course offered in 1977, our current 35-course entrepreneurship curriculum is the most comprehensive available, supporting both an undergraduate major and minor, a Master’s in Entrepreneurship, an MBA Concentration, and the doctoral program.

The program is rich in many other entrepreneurial resources, from our 2500+ Cowboy Entrepreneurs Network to the Cowboy Idea Hatchery, and from the Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program to high impact entrepreneurial outreach that includes the Experiential Classroom, the Veterans with Disabilities Entrepreneurship Program, the Women Entrepreneurs INSPIRE Symposium, and the Native American Entrepreneurship Academy.

Doctoral students work closely with a dedicated team that includes Robert Baron, Bruce Barringer, Vance Fried, Michael Morris, Justin Webb, Tom Westbrook and Brandon Mueller. They develop an appreciation for theory, research methods, and the great questions that confront entrepreneurs, public policy makers, resource providers and others who support entrepreneurial activity. The doctoral program is personalized to reflect the intellectual interests of the student, while capitalizing on the strengths of our faculty. Students are afforded the opportunity to generate and publish research with faculty mentors, and receive active support in facilitating their own research.

OSU’s doctoral program in business was launched in 1958. Built on a tradition of innovation, our Ph.D. degree areas are selective and rigorous. Graduates have achieved distinction at many leading universities. Importantly, the spirit of entrepreneurship pervades the academic environment within the Spears School of Business and is a core element of our mission. The School of Entrepreneurship is highly supportive of doctoral students; assistance includes graduate fellowships and scholarships, doctoral student stipends, close faculty mentoring, support for student research, funding for travel to present papers, and guidance in the development of teaching skills. Accepted candidates receive a four-year tuition waiver and stipend.

While the application deadline is March 1, admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, so prospective students are encourage to apply early. All relevant information, including the application package is online at http://entrepreneurship.okstate.edu. If you have questions or would like further information regarding the program, or would like to talk with one of our current doctoral students, please contact Dr. Justin Webb at justin.webb@okstate.edu<mailto:justin.webb@okstate.edu>.
