    Dear Entrepreneurship Educator and Friends:

Do you know of any high school teachers who are entrepreneurial (or have knowledge of a small group of entrepreneurial teens) who want to help their students create and operate real world ventures? If so, please check out SAGE (http://sageglobal.org).

How Does SAGE Work? A Group of Teens Must:

    1. Identify a business venture, form a team of at least two more teens, and find an adult ally/sponsor.
The business must be either a:

    ·         Socially responsible business (SRB) or a

    ·         Social enterprise business (SEB)

    1. Operate the business during the year
      Focus on:

    ·         Marketplace viability

    ·         Social impact

    1. Travel to a SAGE competition to present your business to a panel of leaders (by invitation only: your invitation will be extended only if you meet certain reporting benchmarks during the year).

    ·         The SAGE USA tournament is scheduled for Chicago, IL on May 27-29. SAGE provides lodging, food, prize money, awards, recognition, and an audience of business and civic leaders for the first 40 teams to register. As of today, 29 teams have registered.

The SAGE idea is modeled after interscholastic sports. It works like this. A team of at least three teenagers is formed, either by the teens themselves or in conjunction with an entrepreneurial adult ally (e.g., teacher, business leader, or sponsoring organization). If the team is affiliated with a high school, it can be part of an existing class, or it can be co-curricular. In the late spring or early summer of each year, the teams travel to a tournament to present the results of their innovations to a panel of jurists recruited from the business and civic community.

At the national tournament, the best team in each category wins the right to represent their country at the SAGE World Cup.

    Sincerely,

    Curt
