Apologies for cross-postings.
We would like to invite you to a Caucus "Biological basis of behavior in organizations" at this year's AOM meeting in Montreal!
Researchers have recently started to use biological approaches to investigate the deeper reasons underlying employees' and managers' behavior. For example, genetic factors have been found to influence leadership, entrepreneurship, recognition of opportunities, and work values, and hormone testosterone has been shown to relate to status and collective efficacy in groups. This research on biological basis of behavior has borrowed extensively from various disciplines including sociology, neuroscience and neuro-economics, behavioral genetics, physiology, and occupational health psychology. Several prominent journals in organization sciences have put forth special issues devoted to better understanding of biological basis of behavior and decision making in organizations (e.g., OBHDP, the Leadership Quarterly, and Strategic Management Journal).
The purpose of this Caucus is to provide a platform for researchers to openly discuss the prospects, benefits, and challenges associated with this area of research. Group discussions will be used to support participants' communication and collaboration. If you are interested in this area of research, please come and join the conversation and find your collaborators!
Time: Monday, August 9, 2010 4:45PM - 6:15PM
Location: Le Palais Des Congres in 522A
If you have any questions about the Caucus, let us know.
