Session Description
The goal of this PDW is to foster high-quality, multidisciplinary entrepreneurship research on the informal economy. To help attain this objective, several Field Editors from the Journal of Business Venturing (JBV) will work with scholars-especially junior ones-whose papers or research proposals are accepted for discussion at the session.
Prior to the workshop, registrants will submit their papers or proposals to the PDW organizers. These pieces will be screened for quality and fit, and then sorted into related groups. At the session, registrants will be assigned to one of six tables based on the paper groupings. One pair of co-lead JBV Field Editors will also be assigned to a table. After a brief introduction about the session's goals and format, the co-leads will discuss one exemplary entrepreneurship paper relevant to the group's area then provide formal comments on each paper or proposal at the assigned table. At the end of the session, the co-leads will summarize their group's key learning points. Wrap-up remarks on the informal economy and entrepreneurship will then be offered by the session's organizers.
Submission Instructions
In order to ensure meaningful exchange and in-depth feedback on research, we will cap registration at 24 submissions (2 per commentator). As such, pre-registration is required for this workshop. In the case of co-authored submissions, we ask that only one of the authors registers and attends so that authors of other papers have an opportunity to join us.
To pre-register, please contact Jennifer and Dev Jennings at jennifer.jennings@ualberta.ca and dev.jennings@ualberta.ca to obtain the approval code. Then use that code to register online at https://secure.aomonline.org/PDWReg.
Submitted papers or research proposals for consideration should be no more than 50 pages in length double-spaced (all inclusive). We encourage participants not to submit papers that are already under review at academic journals.
Final copies must be submitted by Sun July 22 in order for the organizers to have adequate time to pre-screen the papers and forward them to the appropriate commentator.
Looking forward to seeing you at JBV's Informal Economy PDW!
