Management Educators:
Conference registration is now open for the OBTC 2010: Teaching Conference
for Management Educators (http://www.obtc.org), held June 16-19, 2010 at the
University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. This is the annual conference for
the OBTS: Teaching Society for Management Educators. Given strong interest
in the conference, we encourage you to register early!
The conference website at
http://www.obtc.org contains information on
registration options and prices, housing costs, and travel information, and
will soon have a tentative timetable for the conference.
OBTC is held annually at a college or university campus somewhere in North
America. In order to minimize conference and food costs for attendees, as
well as promote a strong community spirit, conference registration includes:
1. participation in the OBTC sessions
2. housing in an on-campus facility close to all conference activities
3. all meals during the conference, including breakfast (Thurs, Fri, Sat),
lunch (Thurs, Fri, Sat) and dinner (Wed, Thurs, Fri)
4. conference bag complete with goodies
5. all social events and receptions, including a wonderful Thursday-night
dinner in Old Town Albuquerque followed by a guided ghost walk and a
Friday-Night Dinner, Awards, and Talent Show
6. a one-year membership to the OBTS Teaching Society for Management
Educators which includes proprietary, member-only resources on the OBTS web
site.
7. a one year subscription to the Journal of Management Education
University housing is primarily suite-style (4 to a suite) with individual
bedrooms, shared social space, and a kitchen. There are also some
single-occupancy rooms in traditional dorms (communal restrooms) that will
be available when the suites fill up. When you register for housing, you
will be asked to indicate your preferences for your suite-mates, so please
have this information ready. On campus housing is paid for as a 3-night
block (Wed, Thurs, and Fri). Youll also have the opportunity to book
pre-conference event housing in the same way.
Attendees can also choose to register as a commuter and then make their
own housing arrangements in nearby hotels or commute from home. Let us
offer one caveat on this: Albuquerque hotel options are limited close to the
University, and parking on campus is very scarce. The commuter fee covers
everything described above for the "all inclusive" options EXCEPT for
lodging in college residence halls and breakfasts.
On the website there are regular, student/retired, and guest registration
options. Sorry, but we do not have single-day registration options, or
pro-rated fees based on late arrival or early departure.
Let us also alert you to the pre-conference activities that are available.
This year, we have the traditional T-Group as well as a Day of Mindfulness
session. Information for both activities is provided on the website and we
encourage you to join the OBTC community for these opportunities!
If you have additional questions please check the conference website at
http://www.obtc.org or contact the conference organizers listed below.
See you at the conference! We are delighted with the sessions that will be
included in this years conference and believe youll come away energized
and refreshed!
