The Doctoral Consortium has a successful tradition at the ICSB World Conference. It represents a unique opportunity for doctoral students to present their thesis proposals and obtain useful insight into how their work can be improved and progressed as well as an opportunity for bouncing ideas off on experienced faculty. The workshop also facilitates the exchange of research experiences and new ideas in the fields of entrepreneurship and small business. The ICSB Doctoral Consortium is truly a meeting place for both new and experienced researchers from all over the world and an ideal place to start networking.
Organization: The consortium is organized with a morning and an afternoon session. The morning session is organized in a round table plenary session discussing common challenges; and the afternoon session discusses individual student proposals in 4-5 tracks based on the proposals received from the doctoral students. One or two senior faculty experienced in the specific topic addressed will discuss each proposal.
Abstract Submission: Doctoral candidates interested in attending and presenting their research proposal (not the result of completed research) should submit a two page abstract on line at www.icsb2010.org. Include information on when you commenced your Ph.D. study and when you expect to complete. The abstract should be organized according to the following guidelines.
Guidelines:
1. Abstract should explain the topic of the research.
2. Abstract should explain the theoretical background.
3. Abstract should state the research question(s) and theory questions, as well as the proposed methodology and expected contribution to the field.
The number of participants is limited to 20 students so early application is encouraged. Students will be notified of acceptance of their proposal no later than April 1, 2010. Immediately following receipt of acceptance, students are required to register formally for the Conference.
A $75 fee is charged for participation in the Doctoral Consortium. Registration for the ICSB World Conference should be processed at the student rate. Please note though, that students need not present a paper at the Conference itself to participate, although this is encouraged. The conference fee includes one year???s full membership in ICSB.
Further information on the Doctoral Consortium will be forwarded together with the letter of acceptance. For further information on the ICSB World Conference itself, please visit www.icsb2010.org. This is also the place to become familiar with ICSB as an organization and the advantages membership offers.
