Hello friends and colleagues. I was recently hired to launch a new program in technology entrepreneurship at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. SFU already has a strong presence in the management of technology at the undergrad and MBA levels however until now they have not had an entrepreneurship program. SFU made the decision to marry their existing strength in technology with an emphasis in new venture creation. Vancouver has a vibrant technology sector with a growing presence of early-stage equity investors so I believe the program has a lot of potential to be of value to the entrepreneurial community in the region. I am interested in hearing from any of you who have developed similar programs to identify some best practices in curriculum development, dealing with students who have a technology background while others do not, balancing the need for theoretical foundations while providing the student with real-world entrepreneurial experiences in growth-oriented ventures, etc.
