The College of Business at Oregon State University invites applicants for an
anticipated full-time (1.0 FTE), nine month appointment in Entrepreneurship
at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning September 2013. Salary is

The College of Business has about 2200 undergraduate majors, 700 minors and
100 graduate students. The College of Business joins with other departments
and colleges in new initiatives to respond to the needs and concerns of
OSU's increasingly multicultural student body, and to join the ranks of top
tier colleges of business across North America in teaching excellence,
cutting edge research, industry partnerships and community service.
Expectations of faculty include high-quality teaching and scholarly
activities that result in publications in leading journals in
Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management. Assistant Professors are
expected to establish a program of research and scholarship. Moreover,
faculty members are expected to engage in appropriate service activities
both within the University and the profession. Finally, faculty members are
expected to be collegial members of the College and University.
Entrepreneurship, innovation, technology commercialization, and
sustainability have been identified by the University and the College as
thematic areas of emphasis. The faculty strongly support these themes and
seek colleagues with similar enthusiasm. Service responsibilities include
engaging with the Austin Entrepreneurship Program.
OSU is on the quarter system, with 3 10-week terms a year, plus a summer
term. The typical teaching load for a tenure-track assistant professor is 5
sections a year (i.e., 3-2-0). This is typically used to allow faculty to
devote an entire 10-week term each year exclusively to their research, in
addition to not having teaching expectations in the summer. The College
provides summer support for 2 summers.
Position duties include:
45% Teaching - high-quality teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses
in entrepreneurship, new product development, or technology and innovation
management.
45% Research - scientific investigations that lead to the publication of
scholarly work.
10% Service - participate actively as a member of the university community:
on administrative committees, search committees, university governance
activities and student advising, as well as actively serving ones
professional community.
Qualified applicants will be required to upload the following documents:

Required qualifications include an appropriate earned doctorate from an
AACSB International accredited university or equivalent with an emphasis in
entrepreneurship, evidence of or potential and motivation for scholarly
publication and teaching effectiveness, and teaching experience at the
university level commensurate with job requirements. Preferred
qualifications include relevant professional non-academic work experience
and ability to develop strong linkages with the business community,
practical and/or academic experience in the areas of entrepreneurship, new
product development, innovation, or technology commercialization, interest
in new product development or marketing, and demonstrable commitment to
promoting and enhancing diversity.
