    SUSTAINABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Sustainability and Entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate for the position currently holds a position at the senior Assistant/Associate level with a track record of relevant research and teaching experience. We expect the selected individual to join the faculty during the 2013-2014 academic year.
     
    Both Syracuse University and the central New York region are home to important sustainability and entrepreneurship initiatives. By building on the substantial progress made by the Whitman School, the successful candidate will pursue and promote a progressive research agenda that advances both sustainability and entrepreneurship, while also contributing to ongoing research and teaching efforts within the School and among its community partners. In this regard, the successful candidate will benefit from the enthusiastic support of a team of outstanding faculty, students, administrative colleagues, and alumni and friends of the Whitman School and Syracuse University. This individual will play a key role in the Certificate of Advanced Study in Sustainable Enterprise (CASSE) program, an award-winning, transdisciplinary initiative of the Sustainable Enterprise Partnership (SEP) that links the resources of the Whitman School with the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems, the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science  (See http://partnersforsustainability.org/curriculum/).
     
    Entrepreneurship is a core priority of the Whitman School of Management where the Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises (EEE) offers training in sustainable enterprise and social entrepreneurship among other topics. The Department offers degree programs in entrepreneurship at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Its educational programs and research productivity are consistently ranked among the best in the United States.  For two years in a row (2010-2011), the faculty has been ranked the second most productive entrepreneurship researchers in the Entrepreneurship Research Productivity World Rankings (published by Texas Christian University).  The graduate entrepreneurship program was recently ranked 16th by U.S. News & World Report (2009); our undergraduate entrepreneurship program was recently ranked second in the U.S. by Bloomberg Businessweek (2012).  Members of the research faculty include Tom Lumpkin, Johan Wiklund, Mike Haynie, Minet Schindehutte, Alex McKelvie, Alejandro Amezcua, and Denis Gregoire.     Preferred Qualifications
     
    Successful candidates should have an earned doctorate from an accredited program. As noted, we prefer candidates currently at the senior assistant/ associate level with a strong interest in sustainability and entrepreneurship and a demonstrated willingness to conduct high quality scholarly research and publish in leading academic journals. Candidates for the position must demonstrate a proven ability to publish at a high-level. Candidates should also have demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and have the ability to contribute positively to a participative, collegial setting.
