    The Management and Human Resources Department in the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2014.

    The Position

    The Department seeks a candidate who strives for excellence in both research and teaching in a highly collegial working environment. The new faculty is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses three quarters each academic year, maintain a well-defined stream of quality research, advise students, and provide service to the university and profession. The candidate will be asked to teach in one or more of the following areas: Business Planning, Social Entrepreneurship, Family Business, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, and Business Venturing. Applicants whose work incorporates a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Compensation and Support Environment: Compensation is commensurate with qualifications. To support scholarship, the college and university provide an attractive research incentive program, travel support, Behavioral Lab equipped with Medialab and Sona-Systems subject pool management, additional databases such as SSCI Web of Science, Compustat, and WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services), and various competitive grant opportunities.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. or ABD in Management or closely related field and must have their degree completed by August 31, 2014. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to publishing in quality peer-reviewed journals in their area of expertise. Candidates must have exemplary teaching commensurate with experience and must provide evidence of, or potential for, working effectively with multicultural constituencies and a diverse student body.

    Preferred/Desired Qualifications

    Degree from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution preferred. Relevant professional industry experience and a willingness to develop relationships with the business community are highly desirable.

    Application Procedure

    A complete application package will include an electronic copy of the following:
    • A cover letter clearly stating candidate's teaching and research experience and interests and that addresses the duties and qualifications articulated in the position description;
    • A current curriculum vitae;
    • Five references, with contact information;
    • A statement of teaching philosophy;
    • Course syllabi and student evaluations, if available;

    Finalists for the position will be required to:
    • Provide three recent letters of reference (dated within the last 2 years);
    • Provide an official copy of transcript from highest degree earned;
    • Make a research presentation;
    • Make a teaching presentation;
    • Provide a research writing sample.

    About the College

    The College of Business Administration develops students for successful performance in business, industry, government and education. College programs provide the student with an understanding of the social and economic environment in which we live and with a common body of knowledge to specialize in any business field. In addition, each concentration emphasizes, with additional coursework, specific areas of knowledge useful for the career paths served by that concentration.

    About the Department

    The College of Business Administration offers comprehensive undergraduate programs as well as MBA and MS in Business Administration. The college is located in a $30 million, state-of-the-art, three-building complex that houses over 100 faculty and staff, classrooms, lecture halls, labs, conference rooms, and student club rooms among others. The College is accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels by AACSB International. MHR is one of six departments in the College of Business Administration, which serves almost 5,000 students. The MHR Department has 14 tenure-track faculty members and more than 850 majors.
