    The Oregon State University (OSU) <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> announces an administrative/faculty opening as Director of the Austin Entrepreneurship Program beginning approximately January 1, 2007.  Appointment with professorial rank is possible, dependent on applicant's qualifications. This is a leadership position with the primary responsibility and accountability to manage the strategic operations of the Austin Entrepreneurship Program (AEP).  The Director of the AEP is accountable directly to the dean of the College of Business (COB); works directly with OSU technology transfer office and the regional business community, is active in the education process, and responsible for the long-range strategic plan, implementation and measurement of progress for AEP.   The principal responsibilities of the Director are:

    •       Formulation and implementation of the AEP strategic plan within the context of the COB strategic plan such that national and/or international rankings are achieved. 

    •       Strategic planning and policy development for AEP consistent with the mission and vision of the <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename> and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Oregon</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">State</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place>.

    •       Building relationships with business owners and with supporters including donors, sponsors, and the university community.

    •       Initiating, encouraging and supporting on-campus entrepreneurship related activities.

    •       Development and implementation of a system for sustaining networks with key program stakeholders.

    •       Align the AEP with relevant <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> programs including AFBP programs and services

    •       Assist the OSU Foundation Director of Development with private and public fundraising activities for the program. This includes providing leadership in grant proposal writing and submission.

    •       Work to develop multi-stage business funding mechanisms that benefit the program, the college, and the university. Support the university technology transfer and entrepreneurship efforts.

    •       Work closely with public relations and marketing personnel to promote the program.

    •       Initiate, encourage, and support on and off campus student recruitment efforts including developing off-campus mentor relations and internship opportunities for students.

    •       Active participation in the development and delivery of program curriculum including executive education and outreach.

    •       Provide leadership for the AEP, clarifying the vision, establishing specific goals, creating strategies for achieving those goals, and develop and implement program performance measures.

    •       Research and interpretation of State and University policies and regulations as they relate to AEP activities.

    •       Manage AEP operations, including fiscal responsibility for all components of AEP internal processes.

    •       Maintain intellectual contributions and measurement of peer review of impact.

     

    This is a fixed-term, full time(1.0 FTE) , 12-month, position with reappointment at the discretion of the Dean.

     

    Required qualifications include master's degree in business or entrepreneurship, five years of practical entrepreneurial experience, preferably in high technology or innovative businesses.  Strong record of training or classroom teaching.   Demonstrated administrative and communication skills and collegiality, preferably in an academic setting.  Preferred qualifications include experience as program manager with significant budget responsibilities, and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

     

    Appointment as a tenure track faculty member requires a Ph.D. and evidence of potential for scholarly publications and other peer-evaluated intellectual contributions. 

     

    Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications including a benefits package with several options for health/dental/life insurance and retirement.
