    The U. S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has announced a competition to identify potential host institutions for the inaugural 2010 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq.

    About the New Program: Iraqi scholars in key fields will spend 10 weeks at U.S. institutions working on faculty development, research, and other guided study activities. The program is designed to equip Iraqi scholars with the knowledge and tools necessary to build the capacity of universities in Iraq and to advance the education of future generations of Iraqis. The program will lay the foundation for Iraqi scholars and their U.S. hosts to develop long-term, sustainable institutional relationships and areas of cooperation.

    U.S. academic institutions that will host these scholars should have strong faculty development or professional programs in one of several areas:

    * Applied Linguistics/English as a Second Language (ESL)
    * Business Administration/Management
    * Education
    * Public Health
    * Science, Technology, and Engineering

    For Further Information: The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) will administer the program on behalf of the Department of State. If your institution is interested in hosting a cohort of three to five Fulbright Visiting Scholars from Iraq, visit www.cies.org/Fulbright/Iraq<http://pull.xmr3.com/p/5-4B3F/15163902/http-www.cies.org-Fulbright-Iraq.html>/ to obtain proposal guidelines.
