Multiple Positions in Organizational Behavior and Strategy/Entrepreneurship
The Department of Management and Organizations at The University of Iowa invites applicants for multiple tenure-track positions in Organizational Behavior and Strategy and/or Entrepreneurship. All ranks will be considered, and an appointment at Assistant, Associate, or Full will be based on experience and record of achievement. Experienced candidates are preferred for the Strategy/Entrepreneurship position. Fellowships and professorships may be available. New hires will be expected to start August 20, 2014.
Qualifications: Applicants must have 1) an established record or demonstrated potential for publishing significant research in top-tier journals, 2) a demonstrated high level of teaching competence, and 3) an earned Ph.D. in Management or a related field (can be near completion). Applicants must be capable of teaching in the undergraduate, MBA and/or doctoral programs, and working actively with our doctoral students. For the OB position, an interest and competence in teaching in any of the following additional areas are also desirable: negotiation, leadership, business ethics, or experimental research design (Ph.D. level). For the strategy/entrepreneurship position, interest and competence in teaching either entrepreneurship or corporate strategy are required; competence in both is desirable.

Department: The Management & Organizations department has 21 faculty members in the areas of Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Behavioral Decision Making, and Business Law. The department offers undergraduate majors in Human Resource Management, Leadership and Management, and Entrepreneurial Management. The department houses the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, the first in the nation to bring together students and faculty in engineering, business, and the medical sciences. Our undergraduate program has been recognized as a National Model Program by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Additionally, the university is regularly rated as one of the top 25 Entrepreneurship programs in the United States by Entrepreneur Magazine and The Princeton Review.
The department is known for its excellence in research and teaching. Faculty members in the department regularly serve as editors of major journals in the field (including the current editor of Academy of Management Learning and Education, the former editor of Academy of Management Journal, and current associate editors of Academy of Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, and Research Synthesis Methods Journal), have won numerous research awards, and maintain leadership positions in various divisions of the Academy of Management. The department has also been recognized for teaching effectiveness, with numerous collegiate and University teaching awards. Department members work actively with doctoral students in research and publishing activities. College and Community: The Henry B. Tippie College of Business is housed in the John Pappajohn Business Building, which features the Marvin A. Pomerantz Business Library, technology-equipped classrooms, and a behavioral research lab. The Iowa City area community includes Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, and other small towns with a total population of about 100,000. The University both provides and attracts a wide variety of cultural opportunities, Big Ten athletic events, and a number of business endeavors resulting from scientific and educational research that originated at the University of Iowa.
