MANAGEMENT:  The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at the College of Charleston has an opening for an Assistant Professor beginning August of 2014.  This is a tenure-track position.  We are seeking a candidate to join our faculty in the management area who will teach undergraduate courses in leadership, OB, and general management.  Excellence in and commitment to teaching are required as is a quality research program.  Service is also expected.  A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in a relevant field is required, but A.B.D. candidates near completion of their dissertation will be considered.

For consideration, please send a letter of application including teaching philosophy, a CV or resume, and three (3) letters of reference to: mgmtsearch@cofc.edu.  (Electronic submission of these materials is required.)  Candidates selected for on-campus interviews will also need to send a copy of their graduate transcript, to an address that will be provided later.   The College of Charleston is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty and staff.  We welcome applications from women and members of underrepresented groups.

It is an exciting time to teach leadership at the College of Charleston. We have a growing minor, "Leadership, Change, and Social Responsibility," and are developing a Management major.  The School of Business is focusing on growing several student leadership programs (The Schottland Scholars; The Dean's Student Forum; the "Back to Business" component of the MBA Program). Moreover, the College of Charleston School of Business is a centerpiece in the Charleston Community, with a dynamic and active Board of Governors. Charleston is home to a growing number of knowledge-economy companies thanks to the work of the city's Digital Corridor.  There are two angel capital groups, one of which meets at the School of Business. The Boeing Dreamliner is assembled in a large manufacturing plant nearby and our Department is developing close ties with the Medical University of South Carolina.

Representatives from the Department will be meeting with interested candidates in Orlando at the upcoming meeting of the Academy of Management.

With its historic significance and European influence, Charleston is a wonderful place to live. The campus is integrated into the Charleston historic district, and the entrance to the School of Business is a mere half block from bustling King Street.  There is almost always a festival in Charleston; highlights include Spoleto, Charleston Wine & Food, and Fashion Week. From spring to fall, a farmer's market is open somewhere in the area most every day of the week.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
