The Management Department in the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond invites applications for a Lecturer of Entrepreneurship beginning in August 2014.

A faculty member in this type of position is expected to make strong contributions in the teaching and service arenas. Accordingly, this position has two primary functions: teach undergraduate and MBA courses related to entrepreneurship and provide service to the University and its students in such areas as (a) mentoring student entrepreneurs as well as student-run campus organizations/clubs, (b) advising students in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Track, (c) facilitating the annual business pitch competition, (d) supporting students in off-campus events and competitions, and (e) community engagement including off-campus service and speaking events.

This is a non-tenure track teaching position subject to annual renewal for a maximum of three years, based on performance. The teaching load is three courses per semester for a total of six courses per academic year. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to effectively teach a variety of relevant courses (e.g., entrepreneurship, innovation, new venture creation, entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurial marketing, social entrepreneurship).

Applicants must be either professionally or academically qualified as defined by AACSB criteria. Professional qualification requires a master's degree with a concentration in entrepreneurship or a closely related discipline and substantial work experience at the founder/co-founder level and/or senior managerial level. Academic qualification requires an earned doctorate in entrepreneurship (or a closely related field such as Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Management, or Strategy) with an appropriate publication record.

The successful candidate will display the following characteristics:

    1. Demonstrated teaching excellence. The Lecturer in Entrepreneurship will need teaching capabilities that are commensurate with the Robins School's national reputation for exceptional learning. The candidate selected to fill the position will teach elective undergraduate and possibly MBA courses in entrepreneurship. Generally undergraduate classes are scheduled during the day, and MBA classes meet once a week, typically in the evenings.
    2. Strong record of service achievements evidenced by, for example, previous experience supporting an entrepreneurship center, advising and/or mentoring entrepreneurs, and building campus-community partnerships.

Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in business organizations. The Robins School has multiple areas of strategic interest complementary to entrepreneurship such as consulting, supply chain management, and international business. Applicants who may have experience in one or more of these areas are encouraged to note this in the cover letter.
