Dear Colleagues,
You are cordially invited to attend the 2009 meeting of the Eastern Academy
of Management at the Hartford Hilton, Hartford, CT from May 13 to May 16,
2009.
We have an exciting theme, Facing the Future with Heart and Mind that
includes emotional, value-based, critical studies and traditional cognitive
research, exercises and cases. Broad interest in theme related topics sets
the stage for an engaging conference with participation from corporations
and practitioners to complement our EAM scholars.
In addition to traditional academic sessions, this years conference
features distinguished panels, professional developmental workshops, and
three open-enrollment Consortia focused on career issues of doctoral
students, junior faculty, and mid-career/senior faculty. Information about
the Consortia can be found at
https://eamconference.org/EAM2009Consortia.pdf. An onsite visit to a local
insurance firm, Travelers Inc., is planned. Email Dave Fearon
(
fearon@ccsu.edu) if you wish to attend this event on Thursday evening. We
are putting the final touches on our program schedule, and will have it
available on the conference website in the coming weeks.
HOTEL ROOMS
The EAM has negotiated a discounted room rate for meeting attendees. The
deadline to book your room at this discounted rate is 13 April 2009, but our
allocated guest room block is limited, so we strongly recommend that you
book your hotel room as soon as possible. A local college is holding an
event that weekend, creating more competition for rooms. Information on
hotel bookings can be found at
https://eamconference.org/hotel/
MEETING REGISTRATION
Online registration for the meeting is now open. For registration

I hope you chose to join us for this exciting meeting, and I look forward to
seeing you in Hartford!
Sincerely,
Dilip Mirchandani - EAM President
and
John Ogilvie - EAM 2009 Vice President of Program
