    The David Eccles School of Business of the University of Utah (www.business.utah.edu) seeks to fill a two-year (Fall 2009 to Spring 2011) POST-DOCTORAL position in STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT or ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
     
    Preference will be given to candidates who hold or are scheduled to complete their PhD in strategy or a related field by August 2009. A focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, management of technology, or international business is also preferred. Candidates will be selected on the basis of research promise and excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate will carry a 12 credit hour annual load and be expected to collaborate on research with faculty. Compensation for this position is $65,000 and includes health and other benefits as designated by the University of Utah.

    The Strategic Management Group includes Bill Hesterly, Bill Schulze, Karin Fladmoe-Lindquist, Lyda Bigelow, Lindy Archambeau, and Ming Piao. The Organization Behavior Group includes Art Brief, Tine Diekmann, Harris Sondak, Gerardo Okhuysen, Bryan Bonner, Kristin Smith-Crowe, and Markus Vodesek. The David Eccles School of Business offers degree programs at the undergraduate, masters, executive and doctoral levels. Teaching opportunities for the post-doctorate will be at the undergraduate and masters levels.
     
    The David Eccles School of Business faculty is well-recognized for its research and annually hosts 45 scholars from around the world for the UTAH-BYU Winter Strategy Conference. The Department was ranked 28th in the world for its research in the Financial Times Executive MBA Rankings. The Department of Management includes established scholars in Strategic Management and Organizational Behavior. Adjacent to the campus is a Research Park, home to more than 30 technology-oriented businesses with close research and operational ties to the University. Salt Lake City is known as a hotbed for technology-oriented business startups that provide great opportunities for student learning and research. The University of Utah is also home to the Lassonde Entrepreneurship Center, which recently received a gift of $13.5 million. The School is also the host institution for the University Venture Fund. The University of Utah values candidates who have experience working in settings with students from diverse backgrounds, and who possess a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for historically under-represented students.
     
    The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. Salt Lake City is the state capitol and home to many businesses and nonprofit organizations. The metropolitan area has a population of approximately one million residents and is a major urban center in the intermountain west. Salt Lake City has extensive arts and cultural activities and a major airport close to downtown. It is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and has four distinct seasons, including mild winters and warn summers and offers excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation, including easy access to the mountains, the red rock country of the Colorado Plateau, and eight national parks. Eight major ski areas (including Alta, Snowbird, and Park City) are located with one hour's drive of the University.
