Title: Collateral Faculty Type of Search: National
The Department of Management in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applicants for a collateral (full time, non-tenure track) faculty member to support the Department of Management's Entrepreneurship Program.
Description: The collateral faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in entrepreneurship and for working with faculty and administration to grow the impact and reach of the School of Business entrepreneurship program. Duties fall into two broad categories: 1) mentoring/education and 2) community and university outreach. The first will involve active engagement with undergraduate and graduate students in and out of the classroom to develop the next generation of VCU entrepreneurs. The second will involve engaging and enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the greater Richmond area, and working with programs across the VCU campus. We are looking for candidates who are interested in innovative teaching in entrepreneurship; working with student groups and programs to educate beyond the boundaries of the classroom; and connecting VCU students with the Richmond business and entrepreneurship community. The candidate hired will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Qualifications: A master's degree or doctorate is preferred, or equivalent work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree, ideally in management or entrepreneurship from an AACSB accredited institution. Candidates should have demonstrated leadership and team-building qualities and the ability to interact successfully with students, academics, and practicing professionals. Preference will be given to candidates with significant professional experience in areas related to entrepreneurship (e.g., small business, new venture startups, franchising, venture capital). A familiarity with the academic field of entrepreneurship and related teaching experience is desired. Strong domain/subject expertise in a field/industry that is relevant to the Richmond business community is also desirable. Finally, preference will also be given to those individuals with experience in an information content or technology environment.
Candidates must be eligible for employment in the United States and indicate their citizenship or visa status.
Application Process: Applicants should submit a resume or vita and the names of three references to Mrs. Blair DeLorge, Department of Management, Virginia Commonwealth University, 301 West Main Street, P. O. Box 844000, Richmond, VA 23284-4000, MGMT@vcu.edu. Electronic submission via email is preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
