    Job Description:

    General responsibilities include departmental organization, administration and representation; AACSB and SACS accreditation maintenance; continuous department development and curriculum development and assessment; academic, administrative and financial planning; and effectiveness of the department curriculum, faculty, and staff.

    The Department Chair works closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, faculty and staff in the general operations, research, and strategic planning of the Department of Management Programs. As full time university faculty, the chair will also be involved in teaching, faculty development, research and scholarly activities, and service to the university and community.

    Department Chairs are appointed by the Dean, in consultation with the faculty and with the concurrence of the Provost. The appointment is ongoing (not for a fixed term) and the Chair will be evaluated by the Dean in consultation with the department faculty.

    With more than 25 full-time faculty on two campuses, Management Programs is one of the largest departments in the College of Business. The department has programs in four areas-(a) Management, (b) Sport Management, (c) Health Administration, and (d) International Business-and at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. In addition, the department oversees General Business courses offered by the College.

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate is a scholar of recognized stature with a doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution in an appropriate discipline (one represented within the FAU Management Department) with a record of teaching and doing high quality research in a Management related area, and a record of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with appointment at the full professor rank.

    The appointee is expected to have a strong record of publications in prominent, peer reviewed journals in addition to a record of notable interaction with business and/or policy officials outside of academia. Experience with the AACSB and SACS accreditation processes preferred. Evidence of excellence in leadership, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to manage a department office and its operations is required.

    Compensation:

    The salary range for this position is competitive with peer institutions in the Florida State University System. This is a twelve month administrative appointment that will accrue and use annual and sick leave according to existing university policies. As a twelve month administrative position, it is expected that Chairs will be accessible in their office during normal university hours to serve faculty and students.
