    The 5th Annual Family Enterprise Research Conference (FERC) will be held at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, from April 24-26, 2009.
     
    This year???s conference theme is "Rethinking Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Sustainability and Stakeholder Management: Does Family Make a Difference?" While submissions on all topics relevant to family business are encouraged, full paper submissions focusing on the 2009 theme and the Business Ethics Quarterly (BEQ) Special Issue are especially welcome.
     
    Submissions for the conference may include:   Extended abstracts (one to five pages), or

    Reviews of conference submissions will be conducted by the FERC ???09 Review Board, consisting of leading family business scholars  The FERC Review Board membership can be found at: http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/management/academic_depts_centres/centres_institutes/entrepreneurship/media/2009ReviewBoard.pdf
    Please note that only full-length papers will be considered for the BEQ Special Issue. All submissions are due by JANUARY 31, 2009.
     
    The BEQ Special Issue Guest Editors include
    Bradley R. Agle, University of Pittsburgh; James J. Chrisman, Mississippi State University; Ronald K. Mitchell, Texas Tech University, and; Laura J. Spence, Brunel University.

    •  Publication Boot Camp for exceptional conference submissions to be considered for the BEQ special issue.
    •  Best Poster Session Award, $2,000, sponsored by Laird Norton Tyee.
    •  2009 FOBI Scholars supported by the Seidman Colleage of Business at Grand Valley State University will be announced at the FERC 09. Four to six research awards, with a total of $30,000 will be granted this year.  Since inception in 2001, a total of 48 national and international scholars have been funded by FOBI.
