The School of Business (http://www.albany.edu/business/) and The RNA Institute in the College of Arts and Sciences (http://www.albany.edu/cas/) invite applications for an open rank, tenure-track position in Life Science Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization. This position connects the two colleges in research, technology advancement and commercialization, and instruction. The position will elevate and expand the University at Albany's program offerings to business and science students in one of the most important and dynamic areas of growth in the U.S. The position supports a unique and successful research and instructional program in Life Science Entrepreneurship pioneered by the School of Business and The RNA Institute.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in successful grant funding and should be able to teach classes in life sciences entrepreneurship and business strategy. Experience in technology and life sciences commercialization is desirable.
Upon hiring, the successful candidate will be a member of the Management Department housed in the new, state of the art, $64 million, School of Business building. The Management department is also the academic home of the Journal of Technology Transfer, the only major academic journal devoted to the managerial and policy implications of academic entrepreneurship and technology commercialization http://www.springer.com/business+%26+management/journal/10961).
The candidate will also be a member of The RNA Institute (http://www.albany.edu/rna) research community, comprised of more than 35 investigators from the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, the School of Public Health, and regional institutions including the Wadsworth Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Albany Medical College. This creates an outstanding environment for technology development and commercialization. The Institute has corporate partners for technology entrepreneurship and education.

Applications must include a CV with present and past grant funding, publications, a statement of research interests and experience in life science entrepreneurship, if applicable and a statement of teaching. A minimum of three letters of reference attesting to the candidate's research accomplishments should be sent to Professor Richard Johnson at rjohnson@albany.edu
Qualifications: Ph.D. from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and a strong publication record reflecting significant scientific and/or leadership accomplishments in life science entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship research. The applications must address the candidate's ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population. Preferred qualifications include one degree in the sciences, one degree in business, and demonstrated ability to obtain independent extramural/grant funding. Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2014 and continue until the position is filled.
