    The Regional Studies Association would like to remind you of its Early Career conference, Early Career Grant and a currently advertised Early Career Editor's position. For more details on these please see below.

     

     

    RSA Early Career Conference 2014

    ICOSS, University of Sheffield, UK, Thursday and Friday 30-31 October 2014

     

    This exciting conference, sponsored by the new open access journal Regional Studies, Regional Science, will provide early career researchers with the opportunity to network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies/ science and related fields.

     

    The objective of the conference is bring together students and early career researchers to present and debate their work in a welcoming and stimulating environment, with a view to getting invaluable feedback and new ideas and learning more about how and where to publish their research results. One session will focus on how the publishing environment is changing and the new opportunities it creates. A number of distinguished Plenary Speakers will be in attendance, in addition to the Editors-in-Chief of Regional Studies, Regional Science. Participants working in the following areas are invited to submit an abstract, though we welcome all submissions with a regional studies or regional science focus.

     

    Abstract submission and registration

    Registration and abstract submission for the Early Career conference 2014 is now open. Deadline for abstract submission is 29th August 2014 but late abstract might still be accepted.     RSA Early Career Grant 2014

    The RSA Early Career Grant Scheme is open to single applicants in their early career (those within five years after finishing their PhD). Applicants must be based within an eligible higher education institution (HEI) and must be a current, early career member of the Regional Studies Association and throughout the duration of the grant.

    How does it work?

    The RSA Early Career Awards are provided to support a discrete piece of regional studies and/or regional science research. The value of the award is up to £10,000 (or its equivalent in dollars or Euros depending upon the agreed exchange rate at the time of the award). The award has a maximum time span of 18 months and reporting conditions apply. Only one award will be made to any successful applicant.

    Early Career Editor for

    Spatial Economic Analysis

    SPATIAL ECONOMIC ANALYSIS is a pioneering economics journal dedicated to the development of theory and methods in spatial economics, published by two of the world's leading learned societies in the analysis of spatial economics, the Regional Studies Association and the British and Irish Section of the Regional Science Association International.

     

    The appointee will work alongside the main editorial team in fulfilling their duties. It is anticipated that an early appointment will be made to this post and the successful applicant will take up their duties immediately. The position is mentored by the Editor in Chief, Professor Bernard Fingleton, and will provide an exceptional insight into the publishing process.
