The Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurial Practices (STEP) Project is inviting applications for the STEP Academic Director position. We seek a global thought leader in the area of family enterprise to oversee, coordinate, drive and connect regions and researchers in this research Project. Candidates who integrate the connection between family business and entrepreneurship and bring a global perspective to research are welcome. The successful applicant will have experience collaborating with scholars in a global setting with multi-cultural sensitivities. Ability to successfully coordinate and communicate within a global community of family business scholars to promote and manage the initiative and for this project while working with the Global Board is an integral part of the role.
The STEP Project is governed by the STEP Global Board, made up of 2 scholars from each of the Project's 4 regions, 2 members from Babson College, and a Chair. The Academic Director position is supported by a full - time Project Manager and a part time Administrative Assistant. The Academic Director position serves as an ex-officio member of the STEP Global Board while working closely with Board Chair and STEP Manager to set meeting agendas and implement strategic decisions of the Board in alignment with refinement of the STEP Model. Babson College is the convener of the STEP Project.
Terms of Appointment:
· Eligible candidates must have credentials for working in the United States
· Start date preferred: Oct 1 2014
· Part time position approximately 25% of faculty time
· Three year term
· Travel is required for various global STEP events and quarterly visits to Babson College
· Compensation determined based on experience
· Reporting structure:
o Academic Director Position reports to STEP Global Board for all matters related to the STEP Project
o All administrative issues will be overseen by the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship Faculty Research Director

STEP Project Summary
Founded in 2005 by Babson College in collaboration with six academic affiliates in Europe, the STEP Project is a global applied research initiative that explores the entrepreneurial process within business families and generates solutions that have immediate application for family leaders. There are now 42 institutions and over 190 scholars involved in this project collaborating worldwide from 4 regions: Europe (2005), Latin America (2006), Asia-Pacific (2007), and North America (2011). STEP scholars have completed 105 longitudinal research cases in our qualitative database and we have launched the STEP Quantitative Survey, a first of its kind survey investigating the impact of entrepreneurial attitudes and resources on performance and continuity in business families. Since the Project's inception, we have successfully conducted 14 Regional Summits and 2 Global Summits attended by STEP scholars and families from around the world. The Project has published a multitude of scholarly articles and books based on STEP data including 4 books in the Edward Elgar STEP Series; 7 Practitioner Booklets; 7 dissertations and 17 Issues of the Quarterly Newsletter STEPout .
