The Department of Management at the Robins School of Business, University
of Richmond, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position
in entrepreneurship with a secondary emphasis in strategic management to
begin Fall 2009.
The candidate selected will teach entrepreneurship and strategic
management courses in the undergraduate and MBA program. Tenure-track
faculty typically teach five courses per year with an average class size
of twenty or fewer.
The candidate will also be expected to conduct meaningful research aimed
at publication in top-tier scholarly journals. Tenure-track faculty are
eligible to apply for a one-semester research sabbatical during their
third year.
Candidates are expected to have completed or be near completion of the
Ph.D. The preferred candidate will be at the Assistant or possibly
Associate level, depending on qualifications, and will have some prior
business experience. Evidence of teaching excellence is very important.
The Robins School of Business is part of a private, highly selective
university, with a liberal arts orientation and a rising national and
international profile. U.S. News & World Report, as well as other college
guides, consistently rank University of Richmond as one of the nation’s
top universities. A recent Business Week ranking of undergraduate business
programs put the Robins School in the top 25 nationally (#5 in academic
quality). Our university is noted for its challenging academic programs,
excellent facilities, commitment to undergraduate education, and strong
resource base, including an endowment of well over $1 billion. The campus
is one of the most beautiful in the country and the Richmond area offers
all the amenities of a larger city, as well as easy access to the
mountains, the beach, and Washington, D.C.
Application submissions for this position should include a current
curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three references
that are familiar with the candidate’s qualifications with respect to
excellence in teaching and research. Inclusion of recent teaching
evaluations, either in a separate document or in the vitae, will
facilitate the selection process. The screening of applications will begin
immediately and continue until an appointment is made.
The University of Richmond appreciates ethnic and cultural diversity among
its faculty and students. Applications from women, ethnic minorities,
veterans, and individuals with disabilities are welcome.
