The Department of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology in the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Entrepreneurship at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin Fall 2013, subject to funding. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship or closely related field from an AACSB accredited university, a strong research portfolio, and demonstrated teaching ability. Job duties include teaching in undergraduate and graduate Entrepreneurship programs and conducting research that leads to publication in premier journal outlets.

The Department of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology was recently formed through the merger of the Management and Management Information Systems departments. The new department offers undergraduate degrees in Management, Entrepreneurship, and Management Information Systems, as well as a Master of Science in MIS. Current plans are to launch a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship. Researchers from the MET department have published in high quality journal outlets such as Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of Applied Psychology, among others.

In conjunction with the UNLV Center for Entrepreneurship, the Lee Business School has recently partnered with the College of Engineering in a cross-disciplinary collaboration. In just two years, teams from this collaboration have won five of the six possible graduate division awards in the Nevada's Governor's Cup, and a first and second place in the annual Tri-State Competition in which Nevada competes against the winners of the respective Arkansas and Oklahoma Governor's Cup competitions. More importantly, and as direct outcome of this process, three product driven businesses have been created in the last year. Other recent initiatives include restructuring the undergraduate entrepreneurship curriculum, receiving a $115,000 naming sponsorship for the Southern Nevada Business Plan Competition run by the CFE, implementing a $500,000 student venture fund, and the development of an entrepreneurship certificate program.

Las Vegas has a vibrant entrepreneurship community including the recent downtown revitalization project led by Tony Hsieh of Zappos.com. In conjunction with the downtown project, Vegas Tech holds weekly "Jelly" events designed to bring together software developers and designers. These events now regularly host over 250 attendees. Switch communications, which runs the world's largest and most powerful data center and technology ecosystem, has recently opened the Innevation Center to help foster innovation in Nevada. Las Vegas also has an active angel investment community, including the newly created vegastechfund.com. Given these and many other recent initiatives, Las Vegas provides an exciting environment for individuals interested in entrepreneurship research and practice.

UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 27,000 students and 2,800 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. The university has internationally recognized programs in hotel administration and creative writing; professional degrees in law, architecture, and dental medicine; and leading programs in fine arts, sciences and education. UNLV is located on a 332-acre main campus and two satellite campuses in dynamic Southern Nevada.  For more information, visit us on-line at:   http://www.unlv.edu.

Persons interested in the position should send a cover letter and curriculum vitae to andrew.hardin@unlv.edu. Representatives from the MET Department will be scheduling preliminary interviews at the AOM Conference in Boston, and the AMCIS Conference in Seattle. Once funding has been approved, selected applicants will be asked to formally apply through the university employment system.
