2008 Entrepreneurship Division Junior Faculty Consortium, Aug 8 & 10, 2008
The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor a Junior Faculty Consortium during the 2008 annual meetings of the Academy of Management in Anaheim, CA. This year's program is specifically aimed at the needs of new assistant professors.
On Friday, August 8th a superb group of faculty will provide practical advice about managing your career so that you can succeed in the classroom AND do research. Topics will range from managing research to managing classes and other obligations so that you have time to be productive. A panel will then discuss the "Phases of an Assistant Professor's Academic Life" and the path toward tenure. Faculty will address the challenges and experiences you can expect to face in each phase (entry, mid-tenure review, and so on) and offer practical advice about difficult choices you may face. Friday's session will conclude with dinner. On Sunday, you will meet with editors from the leading journals in the field to gain insights about crafting scholarly articles and publishing in top scholarly journals.
The Consortium will begin at noon on Friday, August 8, 2007, and meet again for a two-hour session on morning of Sunday, August 10th. The Friday session will be held at Chapman University. The Sunday session will be held at the conference hotel.
This year's consortium is chaired by Becky Reuber (U of Toronto) and Bill Schulze (U of Utah). The Consortium will be limited to 25 participants to allow lots of time for interaction. Qualified participants will be admitted on a first come basis.
