The Memorial Service (delayed due to his death out of the country in the Cayman Islands) to celebrate the life of John R. "Jack" Thorne, March 25, 1926 - February 13, 2008 will take place at the Powdermill Nature Reserve at 11am Saturday, March 29, 2008.
This is an outdoor service under a tent at the nature reserve so dress accordingly (including shoes, weather has been colder than usual). Parking will be at the St. Michael's of the Valley Church, Rector, PA. Shuttle busses will go between the church parking lot and the nature reserve (about 8 minutes away). Very limited parking is available at Powdermill for those who can not take the shuttle bus. People can be dropped off there before going to park.
Directions from Ligonier PA (2 ways to get there):
At the intersection of Route 30 and Route 711 in Ligonier take 711 south (711 eventually goes to the PA turnpike in Donegal). Turn left (east) at Darlington-Rector Rd, turn left (north) at Route 381. The church for parking will be on your left. If you were to continue south on 381 you would reach Powdermill nature reserve.
OR
You can continue out of Ligonier going east on Route 30. Go right (south) on Route 381 and the church will be on your right. The Powdermill Nature reserve is further south on 381.
