I wanted to pass on the sad news that my uncle, Jack Thorne, whom many of you know through Carnegie Mellon University's entrepreneurship program (which he started), passed away unexpectedly yesterday (Feb 13) afternoon. He was out of country vacationing with his wife, Helen. Details are still sketchy and we are not sure when she will be returning home. There will be a memorial service in Pittsburgh and details will be available from the Tepper School of Business when they are known. My understanding is that they will also be collecting memories of him to compile into a packet to give to his family. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, two sons, four grandchildren, three sisters and many extended family members.
