Why else to come to FERC 2008?
It's a great opportunity to share ideas from family business researchers from around the world. In a rather intimate conference you can also meet and get feedback from prominent scholars , some well known in family business (e.g., Frank Hoy, Pramodita Sharma), some well known scholars with some family business writings (e.g., Mike Hitt of Texas A&M U.) , and some prominent scholars who have just recently become interested (e.g., Anne S. Miner, U. Wisconsin, Madison and Tom Lumpkin of Texas Tech). There will also be prominent people from the world of practice (e.g., Dean Fowler of Dean Fowler Associates and Judy Green of the FFI).
The hotel location is terrific – at a great price (only to March 18th). The hotel will be host to most sessions and is five blocks from Marquette University, two blocks from the Milwaukee Public Museum, where you can see the famous Gunter von Hagens, Body Worlds. Travel east 1 mile from the hotel where you will find the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan and the world-famous Calatrava, the wing of the Milwaukee Art Museum. You are only 8 miles from the Milwaukee airport and very near the train station – in an hour and a half you can be in downtown Chicago.
We emphasize informal but semi-structured networking, throughout the conference and especially in the opening session on Friday. Jean Davidson, granddaughter of Walter Davidson, the first President of Harley Davidson (a Milwaukee company) will give the opening talk – she's a wonderful speaker.
