    Director, Austin Family Business Program

    A.E. Coleman Chair in Family Business

     

    <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">OREGON</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">STATE</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype w:st="on">UNIVERSITY</st1:placetype></st1:place> seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of the Austin Family Business Program and A.E. Coleman Chair in Family Business.  The Director leads a program that serves as a pacesetting resource that offers practical lessons in affordable and accessible formats and hands-on learning opportunities that include workshops, conferences, checklists, videos, academic courses, and information on the WWW.  The Director is responsible for developing a vision, establishing specific goals, creating strategies for achieving those goals, and taking projects to completion.   The 12-month, renewable, professional faculty position will begin on July 1, 2008.  Salary is commensurate with <st1:personname w:st="on">edu</st1:personname>cation and experience.  Fringe benefits are excellent.

     

    Qualifications include a Master's Degree in an appropriate business-related discipline, with a Doctorate appropriate to AACSB-accredited university preferred; a minimum of five years of full-time work experience that demonstrates (1) proven entrepreneurial experience in taking a least one idea to fruition, (2) prior experience in working with family-owned businesses, (3) hands-on managerial skills and willingness as well as the ability to delegate to key managers, (4) fund-raising ability to allow for the continued growth of the Program,  (5) experience in classroom instruction and in successfully conducting seminars and workshops, and (6) a proven ability to establish meaningful metrics to measure the progress of specified goals and meet them on established time tables; a clear understanding of the nuances that accompany the family business environment; an ability to sell the Program to attract new family businesses; demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for family businesses and their role in Oregon's social and economic fabric; evidence of  decisive, energetic and natural leadership that displays creativity, competitiveness, and vision;  and an ability to maintain a positive involvement within the university environment and earn respect and credibility from other faculty members and administrators.
